Actually the site is above the quarry on a ridged hill accessed from a narrow lane in the village of Gwynfryn. So, for once in a blue moon I have actually managed to get engaged with orchids early enough in the year to catch the Early Purples at this site. Normally I forget and only see the fruiting stems when I visit later in the year to see other orchids in the vicinity. This year they are quite numerous and the colony covers quite a large area. Quite a good show
