We have discovered some of these letters that went at the special rate of three pence as opposed to the normal Pseudopolis charge of ten pence. The counter staff in the post office had no time to prepare for this special deal and so used the standard ten pence stamp, overwrote it with a thick indelible pencil and cancelled the stamp with a special "Counter" frank.
The stamp used is NOT always as claimed and listed elsewhere as a digital print. The stamp on this example cover is a bog standard Enschede stamp as evidenced by the print quality and the 13.5/2 perforations, with a large 3 hand written in ink applied after the stamp was stuck to the envelope. Other examples are as claimed to be digital, and are printed lower definition, and are Wincanton perforated. The handwritten 3s have been applied with different pens, but not definitely by a different hand.
