The Quadrants

The Laernu Quadrants are perhaps the least discussed of the Laernu catalogue. They have thrown up few variations, apart from a set of quadruple sized stamps.

While they are designed as a diamond shaped stamp, the central almost Escher-like artwork is a three part 120 degree repeat. This allows the stamp to be orientated correctly. There are some points of interest. Examine the value tablets and you will see each value has its own style. And oddly, one of the 2F value tablets faces inwards rather than outwards. No examples where this has been corrected have been found. One consistent print flaw has been noted on the 2F where a white blob appears to be a spot of bat guano.

    What to look for ?

  • The giant sized stamps
  • the bat guano flaw
