Laernu Sportens

One of the most obvious exports from here to Laernu must be the passion for organised sport. The Laernuans have adopted a wide range of our sports and put their own twist to them; and that includes the name of the sports. A number of our sportsmen (and other disreputable folk) have made their name playing in Laernu, but to get more details on this you will have to avail yourself of the Guide to the Laernu Sportens that accompanied the second issue. There have been two stamp issues dedicated to the sports of Laernu, the 2005 issue depicting the leading sportsmen of that year, and the 2006-2012 issue which show the top personality of each intervening year. The stamp design is similar in for both issues.

How do we know which year the stamp belongs to, and what the sport is? Simply rotate by 90 degrees and look.

At the base of the stamp in the name of the sport in Laernu; in this case Brackusbonen. And either side of the top of the sporting image is the year; in this case 2005. Dates of 2006 to 2012 indicate the stamp is from the second issue.

Both sets of Laernu Sportens abound in variant stamps. While quite comprehensive listings of these can be found via the links on the individual pages for these two issues, it is quite likely that more exist that have not been declared yet. If you have a stamp that may need to be added to the list you can do so via a post on the CinderellaStampsForum. I look forward to hearing about any new versions of the beauts.
