The Childermote Albums
This 1922-23 Childermote album has a less sturdy card cover though it remains the same size, This example was collected by a N. Bennet of Tilbrook, a Cambridgeshire village. It is slightly dog-eared and only has 25 stamps. These are in the style of other Faith Press stamps of the period, rather than those of 1914. Artwork is by T. Noyes-Lewis.
The 1931-32 album is hardback and is largely complete with stamps, but despite the rigidity of the cover it is starting to fall apart. Perhaps the frequency of use has taken its toll. It records the attendances of Jessie Lambert, perhaps of Worton. The Stamps may be unique to Childermote albums. Those for regular Sunday attendance are mainly two-colour with a small picture and a short text inscription, or have a text running around the perimeter. Additional stamps for important weeks (Advent, Holy week) are landscape proportioned. This suggests quite intense religious instruction. The most important Sundays are marked with metallic silver printing
Images of other Childermote Albums can be seen on the Other Examples pages, but I do hope to obtain more of them to display here.
Full scans of all pages are being added for each album and can be accessed from the main menu bar. Note that these pages contain many images and may take a while to load - please be patient.
