The 3p Contract Renewal was a reprint of the Three Pence stamp, with an overprint stating SUBJECT TO CONTRACT RENEWAL. This looks initially like it was hand stamped due to the almost randomness of the overprint, but all sheets have like overprints in the same position. Thus this overprint was part of the design. We know it is a reprint, as the sheet margins are much more decorated than the Three Pence sheets; and there was a two year gap between the issues. These were printed as a free gift with issue 9 of the Journal.
The sheets were not available to collectors but unperforated examples exist out here. The same sheet layout as the 2004-2005 stamps, but the BP-CE-AB is extensively used, and note-worthy in not only keeping GUM as part of it, but also for replacing a blank element with a yellow skull on an orange background, and adding ACID to that. Is there some sort of secret code going on? Especially when some sheets have the colours subtly changed!
You can see that one stamp per sheet has a double overprint. Does this make it a sport? I would want a single and a double for my collection regardless. Even these overprints had trials with different fonts, the bleached look, and conventional over-printing considered. These are from a photo, of a print of a pdf file of the original computer files - so no complaints about quality
