Theew is a series of 5 covers and correspondence which were made available through the GCTS scheme. The covers were collected in order, and only then could collectors trade in GCTS stamps for a set of the unique stamps involved. Two new Sto Lat stamps are involved. The correspondence was between a cabbage farmer hoping to improve his crop, and a worm herder in Quirm vying for his trade. The actual details of the correspondence are incidental to the actual philatelic nature of these items. Hence I illustrate this page with the covers and parts of the correspondence where stamps are used.
The Ancient And Alluvial Lodge of the Fraternal Herders Association, better known as the Worm Hersers Guild, is based at Little Swelling on the the Sto Plains. Despite this the first letter of the series from Josiah Shawye of Big Fields is to a worm herder, Ebenezer Mangle, based in Chittle near Quirm. It bears a Sto Lat 2p stamp. Though it bears the bust of Vetinari, the top cartouches contain S and L for Sto Lat. Vetinari`s influence is wider than just ankh-Morpork.
Mangle replies with a purchase order. The cover bears a pair of Quirm 2p Lord Rodley stamps. Previously we had only seen the 5p values.
The third letter is also from Mangle. He is requesting Thaddeus Spelt, the wormherder, to collect and deliver the consignment of worms. The 4p Quirm stamp used is of a totally new design.
Mangle also sends a Clacks message, passed on through the Sto Lat offices, to Shawyer. There are two Grand Trunk stamps.
Spelt sends a letter to Mangle to confirm the delivery of worms and to submit a worm quarantine notice. The letter bears two Slo Lat Patrician halfpenny stamps. The notice bears a Big Cabbage 1p used as a revenue stamp.
