2013

2013 brought some new takes on other stamp types and some unique items. The was an issue that carries a curse - the ill fated Wrexham Penny Post that may have sealed its own fate by providing ideas for Rowland Hill’s postal reforms. There were more unusual souvenir stamps, and some adverts. Another first for the Oddities was the collectors album that came with the set of collectors stamps from Noswyl’s Chocolate. Another issue was the poignant reminder of how the Beeching Axe had contributed to the near destruction of Welsh railway heritage. Wherelse can you find stamps for a ‘one-way-ticket’ to obscurity, or the protest stamps issued by the Oddities’ author in residence Huw Puw Caru.

And the last distribution, being a double issue on account of 13 stamps and a collectors’ album, brought the Oddities to a milestone point of 50 issues - Big fanfare
