The first of the clack stamps seen was the Clax Mail stamp from the Year of the Three Roses. They were only available through the Green Cabbage Trading Scheme as a cover bearing the stamp and addressed to Mr A. Parker, the chairman of the guild of Merchants. The $1 charge was to convey an urgent message, sent by clacks, direct to its recipient, hence the rather hefty fee. The design of the stamp is rather simple and is, to me at least, evoke a middle European airmail stamp from the 1950s. Note the use of Clax rather than Clacks.
These were limited to 100 covers only, and in theory only used examples should exist. However it is known that some orders for these (and similar items on the GCTS) requested deconstructed covers, so that a mint, unused stamp could be displayed in an album .
As a personal aside I would have expected this to have had a ‘c-mail’ address on it rather than the old-fashioned name, road and town format, especially as it is addressed to the chairman of the Guild of Merchants. Perhaps he had a c-mail address for his office, but this was personal mail to his home.
