There are a number of stamps, issued by the Ankh-Morpork Post Office, that directly or indirectly point to the Überwald region. For a thematically arranged collection this is as good a place as any to place them.

The Überwald League of Temperance was marked by a special AMPO 6p stamp during the Year of the Spinning Mouse. It shows the member’s Black Ribbon which marks them out as having giving up the red liquid. They were printed in sheets of 35, with alternate stamps inverted. The sheet sport shows the pessimistic ‘vein half full’.

The Dwarfs of Schmalzburg are fond of their operas, especially those involving swords and war-helmets. The most celebrated opera is Bloodaxe and Ironhammer. Typically lastly several hours, this was performed with Lady Sybil in the audience during the events of The Fifth Elephant, and tells of a love story of B'hrian Bloodaxe and Ironhammer, who forged the Scone of Stone. The AMPO issued a 4p stamp featuring the two protagonists in a sheet of 20 stamps. You know it is a love story because Ironhammer holds a blooming rose in ‘his’ mouth for the sport stamp.

Long thought extinct, and probably true now, are Überwald’s most dangerous sentient creatures - the Banshees. One of these has sneaked in on a Sport. The Post Office Reformation set of four stamps from the Year of the Reciprocating Llama were released in mini-sheets of four stamps. Sports of two of these, taken from larger unreleased sheets, together with commons appeared in LBEs. The Great Fire sport stamp shows Mr Gryle, the Banshee, flying high above the flames. The large sheets did make it to collectors as a lucky prize. Perhaps 25 are out here somewhere.

One of Überwald’s most famous citizen’s to have appeared on a stamp is Moist von Lipwig - born in the little town of Lipwig, he is a conman, postmaster and head of the Royal Bank. To mark ten years of Discworld Stamps a special sheet of Penny Lipwigs (based of course on the Penny Patrician stamps) in 10 colours, with gold print and in a mini-sheet. This came in its own special folder, but single stamps or pairs or more also turned up in the 10 Anniversary LBE. Moist was also the recipient of two of the early Zombie covers.

Mr Lipwig also appeared on another stamp image. The deluxe edition of the Going Postal DVD box was presented as a posted packet, tied up with string. The main characters from the film were shown on the postage stamps on the brown paper it is wrapped up in. Does this count as a Discworld Stamp? Well it doesn’t exist and makes no reference to the AMPO, but it is official stuff, so make your own minds up.

The Year of the Sneezing Panda saw in the Cruel and Unusual Geography set of four stamps from the AMPO. The mixed sheet of 64 stamps included the Fat Geysers of the Bonk-Scmaltzberg area of Überwald. Each stamp on the sheet had a single sport, and that of the stamp in question showed a second smaller geyser.

Another Überwald species are the Trolls. They have become plentiful in Ankh-Morpork, and one has appeared on an AMPO stamp. Mr Shine Him Diamond, King of the Trolls, played a pivotal role in the events of Thud! This stamp from the Year of the Second Inception was printed in sheets of 36 and was diamond shaped (naturally). Interestingly this allowed the stamp to be rotated in any of four ways, providing scores of possible se-tenant pairs (though I have never seen a sheet disassembled to create any of these), and making the inverted head bust dead difficult to spot!
