Uberwald

Uberwald is the vast mountainous region of Discworld lying hubwards of the Ankh Valley right up to Cor Celesti. Its boundaries are not clearly defined mainly because much of the outer regions are poorly populated and ungoverned. Where there is government it seems to rest in an uneasy peace between Dwarfs, Vampires and Werewolves, though some rats also hold such positions. Humans and Trolls are subjugate to the ruling species. Some towns, such as Bad Blintz, Bonk and Muning, have issued their own stamps, but for the rest of mountainous region there are generic Uberwald stamps. The former Uberwald Evil Empire included the states of the Kneck Valley, but these are largely populated my humans and perhaps best excluded now. Their stamps are included in the Zlobenia section. Koom Valley is part of Uberwald, but is uninhabited and stamps of Koom Valley are Ankh-Morpork special issues and too have their own section here.

There is one bit of inconsistency regarding the stamps of Uberwald - is the currency Bizlot or Bizot? Both versions have been used on the stamps, with Uberwald and Bonk preferring Bizlot, and Bad Blintz and Muning going for Bizot. If this is not a typographical error it must be just based on where you live.

Here is a picture postcard from Uberwald showing Dontgonearthecastle to put you in the mood. Schmaltzburg, the seat of the Low King, itself so far has released no stamps, and its only postal item is the rubber stamp used in the Ankh-Morpork passport. It is based on the first Uberwald stamp issue.
