In 2002 the Royal Mail planned to release four sets of special issues featuring British Regional delicacies, one each for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Due to indecision over some of the designs the releases never went ahead, but the Welsh issues got as far as perforated trials being prepared, even to the extent of appropriately flavoured adhesive on the back.
The four dishes chosen to represent Wales were Welsh Rarebit, a Welsh breakfast complete with laver, cawl, and the Oggie Pie
