As everybody knows, to a Welsh farmer, his sheep are more than livestock. The Bo-Peep Sanctuary has looked to both help find lost sheep and repatriate them with their owners, and look after strays until they are reclaimed.

Over the years they have issued a number of publicity labels for their mail, including many  variations of their logo on a stamp; the “Say No To Roadkill” overprint is especially sought by collectors. Other labels have been the ‘Have you see this Sheep’ and the “Wanted” series, and even Xmas mail stamps have been issued, with the sanctuary operating a charity mail post in the area around Rhyader..

Included with this issue was a booklet of labels that advertised the National Sheep Dog Week (sponsored by Collie Wobbles Dog Food) in 1955.
