Teppic was just  boy when his father Pteppicymon XXVII of Djelibeybi sent him off for an education with Ankh Morpork`s Assassins Guild. Your children would get a good education if they survived, and they would certainly know how to look good in black. After seven years it is graduation day, and Teppic has a task to accomplish using all the skills he has learned. He glides over the rooftops, around the dome of the Guildhall, to reach his target. All he has to do is not kill himself. He graduates and enjoys a night on the town with pals Chidder and Arthur who have also passed. After several bottles of wine the three are accosted crossing the Brass Bridge by a bunch of five from the Thieves Guild. The attempted robbery is interrupted by the arrival of a large and viscious seagull. Teppic knows it is a sign he has to return home. Teppic knows that Chidders` dad has a fast and silent ship available and so swift passage across the Circle Sea brings him home.

The Kingdom of Djelibeybi is 7,000 years old and is unchanged, apart diverting wealth and land into pyramids, since the days of Khuft, the founder. It is now a narrow strip od land along the Djeli River, keeping the old enemies of Ephebe and Tsort apart. That Djelibeybi lives in the past suits Dios the High Priest. The Djelibebians worship Cats, but the reverse is not true. Pteppicymon XXVII has a dream of flying from the palace, and wakes up to see his body lying below prostrate in the sand. Teppic`s speedy return was needed as the king`s main function is to ensure that the sun rises each day - according to tradition.
The Djelibeybi 1 talon shows what the country
is famous for - pyramids, camels, palm trees                                                                 The Emporium cats are also revered,
and sand.                                                                                                        otherwise they would not feature on stamps.                                                                                                                                                       Tippoo sounds typicall of the palace cats

Despite the old king`s wishes for a simple burial at sea, Dios interprets these, on behalf of Teppic, as wanting for a massive pyramid in which his mummified body can rest for centuries. The pyramid building firm of Ptacusp & Sons get the contract for a pyramid twice the size of anything before. Son Ptacusp IIa is only concerned about the cost, especially as the last pyramid has not been paid for yet. Other son Ptacusp IIb is already working out mathematically how they could achieve it.
Meanwhile Dil the Embalmer is preparing the king for his tomb with the help of apprentice Gern. All the organs and soft wobbly bits have been removed and pickled in jars. The old King`s spirit watches their work. They will bind him up in hessian, but the king really would have preferred a bit of chintz.
The Guild of Embalmers and Allied Tradesmen issued a mini-sheet pf six stamps showing Mr Venting the guild master. They obvious have contacts across Discworld as evidenced by the letter from Djelbeybi below.

Gil the Embalmer. possibly a relative of Dil (or a typo somewhere), sent a letter to the Embalmers Guild in Akkh-Morpork in the hope of selling his embalming salts. These samples had a farthing tax revenue stamp affixed. Both the letter and the salts were limited editions for collectors

Teppic is really having problems with Dios keeping Djelibeybi as it always has been. Seven years in Ankh-Morpork have taught him benefits of soft bedding and sanitation. The feather mattress he ordered has not appeared and the representative from the Ankh-Morpork Guild of Plumbers has gone missing.
At the supreme court Teppic presides and hands out judgments, which Dios reinterprets. The last case involves Ptraci, Pteppicymon`s favourite hand maiden, who has has refused the voluntary potion which would allow her to remain with the king. It is still a death sentence but at least she would not be spending eternity inside a pyramid. Teppic uses his assassins skills to rescue her that night and they leave on a camel, You Bastard, who is incidentally the Discworld`s greatest mathematician. They can see the other pyramids flaring off power in the distance.

These postcards show how little Djelibeybi has progressed over the millennia. They are still made of clay and then the picture, message and address hand- carved onto the surface. The postcards still need a modern postage stamp which gets canceled.
These collectables were limited editions made available during the Year of the Three Roses.

The building of the pyramid is going well. The Ptacusps have secret technique where the blocks can be floated into position.   However funny things start to happen. The sheer size of the pyramid has cause temporal nodes, and time is looping. There are several copies of each of the workers and they will all need paying! The sons decide that the pyramid needs to be capped immediately so that it can flare off that night. But just as the cap is about to be put in place the built up energy releases itself. This coincides with Teppic and Ptraci reaching the border with Ephebe
One second there is a valley and a river, then Ephebe is butted up against Tsort. There is just a crack where Djelibeybi should be. They decide to continue to the city and consult with the philosophers. Pythagonal tells them that this was bound to happen. The pyramids store time, and this is what is flared off each night. Djelibeybi just reuses past time. Had not Teppic noticed how slow time passed there? The build up of energy from the new giant pyramid has caused the dimensions of space time to rotate through 90 degrees, so time is now where depth had been. hence Djelibeybi is effectively two-dimensional in our reality. Teppic leaves Ptraci with Chidders, who has sailed into port to do some commerce nudge nudge wink wink. He goes back to the border and using You Bastard to do the necessary calculations, rides the camel into the crack to return to Djelibeybi. The armies of Ephebe and Tsort have gathered at the border, and are bringing up their wooden horses. No-one knows which side stole Elena all those years ago, nor who actually used the wooden horse ruse, but they are willing to resume the war where they left off.

ts all happening there. In the Necropolis, which is the second largest city on Discworld now, all the royals and others from the last 7,000 years are coming back to life and being released from their tombs. To add to the confusion all the local gods, most devised by Dios, have come to life. Even now they still refuse to listen to the priests. Dios is revealed to be as old as the kingdom. The same Dios has served under all the kings. He has has his own tomb within the Necropolis, where he could retire to for a spot of rejuvenation every so often. Teppic decides there is only one course of action; to climb the great pyramid and use anything metal to release all the pent-up energy. However, the smooth granite surfacing prove too much. His ancestors form a real family tree giving him a leg up to the top. The energy is finally released with a flash and a boom. The great pyramid is slowly blown apart, and all the mummies can finally rest in peace. The gods fade away, and Djelibeybi returns to normal space time. The war is averted.
n the days that follow Chidders arrives with Ptraci. Teppic finds that she is his half sister, fathered by the old king with one of the hand maidens. This means that Teppic can abdicate, leaving the kingdom in the family in Ptraci`s hands., Ptraci soon has the measure of Koomi, the new high priest, and will be able to drag Djelibeybi into the Century of the Fruitbat .... or is it the Century of the Anchovy?
